New Delhi: Veteran BJP leader Shanta Kumar has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday and urged him to confer Bharat Ratna to Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama.
The former Himachal Pradesh CM, in his letter, said that India will be honouring itself by honouring Dalai Lama with the highest civilian award, according to Times Now News.
In favour of raising the Tibet issue in the United Nations, Kumar blamed the Congress party and said that the then Congress government “committed a sin in 1950 when China was allowed to take over Tibet. Today, China has been isolated in the world,” he was quoted by the website.
“With India taking these two steps of honouring the Dalai Lama and raising the Tibet issue in the UN, China will be completely exposed in the world,” Kumar said.
