Mumbai: Veteran politician Sharad Pawar on Friday withdrew his resignation as Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president.
The NCP panel, which was selected by Pawar himself to pick his successor, rejected his resignation.
“I can’t disrespect your sentiments. Due to your love, I am respecting the demand that was made to me to withdraw my resignation and the resolution that was passed by senior NCP leaders. I withdraw my decision to step down as the national president of Nationalist Congress Party,” the octogenarian said.
The party cadre, from junior to senior level, had been urging to rethink the decision as soon as the four-time Maharashtra CM and former Union minister announced his resignation on Tuesday.
