Sheena Bora Case: Bones, Remains Of Victim Go Missing, Prosecution Tells Court

Mumbai: A very important piece of evidence in the Sheena Bora murder trial has gone missing, the prosecution has said.

The bones and remains of Sheena, which were recovered by police in Maharashtra’s Raigad, are not traceable, the prosecution told a CBI court that is conducting the trial in the high-profile case, reported PTI.

The prosecution revealed this on Thursday during the deposition of a forensic expert doctor from state-run JJ hospital in Mumbai.

The court is recording the testimony of the forensics expert who had first examined the bones recovered by Pen police in 2012 from the spot where Sheena’s burnt body was buried.

Sheena’s mother Indrani Mukerjea is the prime accused in the murder case. The 24-year-old Sheena was allegedly killed in April 2012, according to police, though the murder came to light three years later.

According to CBI, Sheena was strangled by Indrani, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamwar Rai.

Special public prosecutor CJ Nandode told the court that the articles (bones and remains of victim’s body), which were referred and examined by the witness (forensics expert), are not traceable despite diligent search.

The court set June 27 as the next date for further recording of evidence.
