Amritsar: Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri was shot dead in broad daylight here on Friday.
Shiv Sena leaders were staging a dharna outside Gopal Temple to protest against the authorities after some broken idols were found outside the temple premises.
Suddenly, someone from the crowd fired at Suri.
The critically injured Suri was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he passed away.
Amritsar Police Commissioner Arun Pal Singh confirmed Suri’s death while speaking to Times Now.
A viral video clip shows Suri on the ground with a bullet wound on his arm, even as another person fired at the direction of the shooter.
Police have arrested the attacker, whose identity is yet to be revealed.
BJP leader Tajinder Singh Bagga pulled up the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, saying that the law and order situation has collapsed in Punjab.
