Shocking! Burglars Rape Woman After Looting Ornaments In Apartment In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, two burglars allegedly raped a woman in her house after looting her ornaments at knife-point in Bhubaneswar early Monday morning.

According to police sources, the burglars entered the flat of the woman in an apartment at Maitri Vihar of the city at around 2 am using bamboo poles while she was sleeping with her two-year-old daughter. The burglars first looted the gold ornaments and mobile phone by threatening the woman. On realising that there is no male member in the house, they raped the woman by threatening to kill her daughter with a knife.

The woman, who works in a private company in the city, filed a complaint about the incident at Maitri Vihar police station on Tuesday.

She and her toddler had reportedly moved into the flat ten days ago.

Acting on the complaint, the police along with a team of the special squad have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits. While the apartment does not have CCTV cameras, the police tried to get the footage from CCTVs in the area. They also questioned the woman’s neighbours and local people to identify the accused duo.
