Bhubaneswar: The residents of Kalarahanga area in the capital city were in for a shock after human skeletons were found inside gunny bags at a dumping place under a bridge on Wednesday.
According to reports, there were more than a dozen skulls among the skeletons that were found by some ragpickers under Injana bridge near Patia railway station.
Mancheswar police and a scientific team rushed to the spot and seized the skeletons. The skeletons will be sent to AIIMS for forensic examination.
Talking to mediapersons, ACP Sanjeeb Satapathy said the skeletons appear to be old and seemed to have been buried under earth for sometime. “Investigations will be conducted to ascertain who committed dumped the skeletons here,” he said.
As there are cemeteries near the place, it is suspected that the bones could also be long to bodies that were buried in the past.
