Balangir: Miscreants looted cash, ornament and a mobile phone from a shop owner at gunpoint in Balangir town on Sunday night.
According to sources, four youths arrived at a battery and inverter shop near the Railway Station Road in Malapada area on a bike at about 9 pm. They asked shop owner Sibaram and his brother Dhruba Charan to show the batteries and inverters. As the duo was about to show them the products, the four youths suddenly put a gun on their head and snatched a gold chain, cash of Rs 5000 and a mobile phone.
Later, they tried to break open the cash locker, but failed in their attempt. The miscreants fled the area threatening the shop owner with dire consequence if he informs the police.
Acting on a complaint by the shop owner, the Town Police formed a special squad and started a manhunt to nab the miscreants.
