Bhubaneswar: Days after temperature soared over 35 degree Celsius several areas, mercury level dropped in Odisha on Saturday morning following rain and thunderstorm.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack experienced light to moderate rainfall, adding chill to the weather in the morning.
Bringing respite from heat, light rain was experienced amid cloudy sky in several districts, including Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Angul, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal.
The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has forecast light to moderate rainfall or thunderstorm in parts of the state till February 28.
It said the day temperature in Odisha is likely to drop by 2-3 degree Celsius following a change in the wind pattern. Light rain/thunderstorm is likely at one or places in Coastal Odisha, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, and Kalahandi till Saturday morning.
Partly cloudy sky is also seen at some places in Keonjhar, Balasore, Koraput and Rayagada districts. Under its influence, the intensity of rain is likely to increase slightly from tomorrow.
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain/ thunderstorm at a few places in North Coastal Odisha, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Boudh, Kalahandi and at one or two places in South Coastal Odisha, Rayagada, Khurda, Koraput, Malkangiri on Saturday.
Yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning has also been sounded for one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, and Boudh.
