New Delhi: The horror tales keep coming.
In a case similar to the horrific Shraddha Walker murder in Delhi’s Mehrauli, the body of a 22-year-old woman was chopped into pieces and disposed of at different locations in UP’s Azamgarh.
A 24-year-old by the name of Prince Yadav has been arrested for the crime against Aradhana Prajapati, police said.
The alleged murder took place on November 10, while it came to light on November 15.
Prince had beheaded Aradhana and chopped her body into several pieces.
Body parts of the deceased were found at two locations, informed police The skull was found in a pond, while rest of the chopped body parts were recovered from Paschim Patti village under Ahraula police station of Azamgarh district, 6 km away.
Police said Prince confessed to his involvement in the crime.
He was apparently in a relationship with Aradhana two years ago. The woman’s family got her married in February this year, when Prince was not in India.
After hearing of the marriage, Prince returned to India and set out to teach Aradhana a lesson.
Prince was arrested on Sunday after an encounter when he tried to escape from the spot where police had taken him to recover her former girlfriend’s missing head.
Prince’s cousin Sarvesh Yadav, another accused in the incident, is absconding, police said.
Explaining the plot to kill Aradhana, SP (Azamgarh) Anurag Arya said that Prince had taken the woman out on the pretext of visiting a temple and killed her to death in a sugarcane field.
“On November 10, the accused took the woman to the field of his maternal kin and strangled her to death. He along with Sarvesh Yadav chopped the body into pieces. The head and the clothes were thrown into a pond while the rest of the parts were dumped into a well,” he said.
“Among the nine accused, Prince Yadav has been arrested. The other accused Sarvesh Yadav (son of Prince’s uncle) is absconding. An award of Rs 25,000 has also been announced,” the SP said.
