Puri: The Shree Jagannatha Temple administration decided to waive off the entry fee for the visitors of the Shree Gundicha Temple in Puri.
Devotees were earlier charged Rs 20 each as entry fee at the Gundicha temple.
The temple administration has also taken a call to do away with auctions for fee collection at ‘Narendra Puskarini’, ‘Rohini Kunda’, ‘Srimandir Mahalaxmi Bhandara Rosa Darshani Mahaala’, ‘Nilachala Upabana’ and ‘Koili Baikuntha’ from this financial year.
The visitors will now be provided free darshan and services at the temple.
According to an official, the temple administration is expected to lose around Rs 7 crore due to the cancellation of the auction process.
The temple administration’s decisions were welcomed by the visitors. The footfalls at these religious places are likely to increase after recent measures.
