Bhubaneswar: Sona Mohapatra is whooping with joy and there is no “shutting up” the Odisha-born singer and song writer. And why not?
‘Shut Up Sona’, a docu film on the singer, has won the best documentary award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM).
It had also bagged the best documentary award at the Texas Indian Film Festival recently.
Next, ‘Shut Up Sona’ will have its UK premiere at the Sheffield Doc/Fest, which is that country’s leading documentary festival.
The national-award winning documentary is directed by Deepti Gupta. It follows the singer for more than three years and her struggles as a female artist fighting for equal space in the Indian entertainment industry.
Ever since its completion, ‘Shut Up Sona’ has been collecting accolades at various prestigious film festivals across the world.
