Gold Coast: Adding glory to India’s sporting area, ace shuttler Kidambi Srikanth was crowned World No 1, in the recent ranking released by the BWF.
Srikanth succeeded Viktor Axelsen and won 76895 points to claim the first position. PV Sindhu, meanwhile, was perched on third spot.
“I am delighted to have achieved the World No 1 ranking for the first time. It is a testament to the hard work of Gopi sir, my family, my other coaches and support staff, my team GoSports Foundation, my sponsors and everyone else who has believed in me over the years,” Srikanth was quoted saying to Sportstar.
Srikanth, who is currently representing India in the Gold Coast Games sailed through the quarter-final stage along with Sindhu, Ruthvika Gadde and HS Prannoy.
