Puri: Jagannath and his siblings – Balabhadra and Subhadra – donned Raja Rajeswar Besha, which is similar to Suna Besha, on the auspicious occasion of Kartika Purnima on Tuesday.
With devotees thronging Puri for darshan of the triad, hundreds of police officers and 40 platoon of police forces have been deployed at Jagannath Temple here to maintain law and order.
The rituals of Pahuda was conducted before 12 am and Dwarapitha ritual was held at 2 am, following which devotee were allowed in for darshan of the deities decorated in 23 types of gold ornaments from 3 am.
The devotees are allowed into the temple through Singha Dwara and they can exit from the other three gates. Barricades have been erected from Shree Jagannath Temple office.
One commandant has been deployed for the security purposes.
A total of five SPs, 17 DSPs, 32 Inspectors, 150 SIs and ASIs and 400 Home Guards have been deployed inside and outside the 12th century shrine.
Likewise, 35 platoon police forces have been deployed in the Puri district to control traffic and for security.
Five platoon police forces have been deployed at Chandrabhaga and Astaranga.
