Puri: Thousands of devotees had darshan of sibling deities in golden attire in Jagannath temple of Odisha’s Puri on the occasion of Dila Purnima on Monday.
As per the schedule of rituals fixed by Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), the main doors of the temple were opened two and a half hours late at 5.30 am. After the rituals of Mangal Arati, Surya Puja and Dwarpala Puja, Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra were adorned with gold jewellery and the devotees were allowed to have darshan.
Following this, Lord’s moving deity Dolagovinda, Bhudevi and Sridevi were taken out in a palanquin to goaround the temple for seven times. The devotees also participated in the grand procession of the Lords. They played Holi with dry colours amid chanting of Haribol on the temple premises.
The deities were then taken to Dola Mandap and placed on the decorated swing there. They were worshipped on the swing with different rituals.
It may be noted that Dola Utsav is celebrated for seven days in the temple. The celebration starts on 10th day of bright fortnight of Phalguna month and continues upto first day of Chaitra month.
