Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ace mountaineer Sidharth Routray added one more feather to his cap.
He did the winter ascent of Mt Kosciuszko, mainland Australia’s tallest mountain at 2,228 metres (7,310 ft) above sea level.
Despite bad weather with temperature at -14 degrees Celsius, wind speed of 50 kmph and visibility 5 ft, Routray reached the summit – located on the main range in Snowy Mountains — on the morning of August 19.
He is the first Odia to climb the top peaks of seven continents.
Having proudly flown the Patitapabana Bana, Shree Jagannath flag and the Tricolour atop each continent, Routray thanked Jai Mata Di, Jai Jagannath and Jai Lingaraj for achieving these successes.
Following are the Seven Summits as per the Bass list that Routray has summited:
* Mt Aconcagua, South America, Jan. 2022
* Mt Everest, Asia, May 2022
* Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa, Oct. 2022
* Mt Vinson, Antarctica, Jan. 2023
* Mt Elbrus, Europe, May 2023
* Mt Denali, North America, June 2023
* Mt Kosciusko, Australia, Aug. 2023.
