Ludhiana: Murdered Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s father Balkaur Singh Sidhu joined the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Punjab on Sunday.
Balkaur met and walked with Rahul Gandhi, who is leading the yatra.
“Today #BharatJodoYatra Balkaur Singh Sidhu ji, father of famous Punjabi singer Late Sidhu Musewala, along with @RahulGandhi ji gave a befitting reply to the forces spreading hatred, fear and violence. Sidhu Musewala was murdered in broad daylight in Mansa, Punjab,” Congress party tweeted.
Moose Wala, whose real name is Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, 2022.
Goldy Brar, who had claimed responsibility for the brutal murder of the singer-politician, was detained by US authorities last month.
Moose Wala’s father, who earlier called upon the Central government to announce a reward for any information leading to the arrest of Goldy — Canada-based member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang — welcomed the news as he has maintained it was a planned murder.
A number of arrests have been made in the Moose Wala murder case, but Balkaur wasn’t satisfied with the investigation.
Last October, Balkaur said he would leave the country as he was running out of patience with the probe.
He joined the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which resumed today from Jalandhar, after being suspended for 24 hours following the death of Congress MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary.
The yatra, which was launched in Kanyakumari on September 7, will conclude in Srinagar around January 30.
