Chandigarh: Former cricketer and Punjab Local Bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu skipped a cabinet meeting on Thursday and instead addressed a press meet beamed on Facebook Live, reports NDTV. The development comes amid a raging feud he is having with Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.
“I cannot be taken for granted… I have been singled out inspite of collective responsibility,” said Sidhu, opting out of the first meeting after last month’s Lok Sabha elections during which the two sparred openly, exposing the divide within the Punjab Congress.
Sidhu had accused Amarinder of blocking his wife Navjot Kaur’s candidature from Amritsar. A sulking Sidhu then went off the grid for over 20 days without any explanation.
On May 23, Amarinder Singh had said the Congress failed to do well in urban areas because Sidhu had handled his portfolio poorly.
Sidhu retorted saying he was being unfairly “singled out” for the party’s poor performance in the state.
