Puri: The silver plating of the two main doors of the Jagannath temple here has been completed, the shrine’s Chief Administrator Dr Krishan Kumar said.
Earlier, eight worn out doors were replaced with new ones.
Kumar also informed that Puri King Gajapati Dibyasingh Deb will chair a meeting of the newly constituted temple managing body on Thursday.
As per a temple release, the shrine will remain closed on Wednesday for ‘Banaklagi’ (makeup) ritual of the sibling deities. It will also be closed at 2 pm on Friday for the ‘Rahurekhalagi’ ritual.
Notably, the Jagannath temple reopened to devotees after a gap of four months on Monday. It was closed on April 23 due to the COVID second wave.
On the first day, around 30,000 devotees had darshan of the deities on ‘Ratnasimhasan’ by adhering to COVID guidelines. Only fully-vaccinated visitors and those producing RT-PCR negative certificates were allowed to enter the shrine.
