New Delhi: Renowned Bollywood playback singer Anuradha Paudwal joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi on Saturday, ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections slated for April or May this year.
Addressing a joint press conference alongside BJP leaders at the party’s headquarters, Paudwal expressed admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and stated her contentment in aligning herself with the party under his leadership.
Expressing her gratitude towards joining the party with “deep connection with Sanatan”, Paudwal said, “I am happy that I am joining the government which has a deep connection with Sanatan (Dharma). It is my good fortune that I am joining BJP today.”
The famous playback singer, who was conferred the Padma Shri, the country’s fourth-highest civilian award, joined the BJP in the presence of its senior leaders, including national general secretary Arun Singh and chief spokesperson Anil Baluni.
When asked if she would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, she said, “I don’t know yet, whatever suggestion they give me.”
This followed shortly after BJP’s Ajay Pratap Singh, a Rajya Sabha member from Madhya Pradesh, announced his resignation from the party’s primary membership for not getting re nominated by the party.
Paudwal was recently seen performing at the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya with her rendition of a Ram Bhajan.
