Lucknow: Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor has decided to donate her blood plasma to help treat COVID-19 patients.
Currently, the doctors at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) are testing her blood sample. If the report confirms that she is eligible, the singer will be asked to donate her blood plasma, the officials at KGMU said.
Blood sample is tested for haemoglobin level (that should be above 12.5) and the weight of the donor should be more than 50 kg, and he/she should not be suffering from diabetes, cardiovascular issues, malaria, syphilis and other such ailments.
“Singer Kanika Kapoor on Monday expressed her desire to KGMU doctors to donate plasma. After this, she was called and her blood sample was taken for testing,” head of department of Transfusion Medicine at KGMU, Tulika Chandra was quoted as saying by PTI.
With this, she will become the fourth corona survivor to donate her blood plasma at KGMU.
The singer was criticized heavily for not practising self-quarantine after being returning from the UK. On March 20, she was found positive for coronavirus and even attended party with top politicians and bureaucrats in Lucknow who were later tested for corona.
