Bhubaneswar: Noted Odia singer Prafulla Kar has received the Sikander Alam Memorial Award.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik gave the award to Kar at an event at the state secretariat on Friday.
Odia Language Literature and Culture Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi, Principal Secretary of Odia Language Literature and Culture Department Manoranjan Panigrahy, Editor of Utkala Prasanga Lenin Mohanty and late Sikander Alam’s wife and daughter were present on the occasion.
The award was constituted by the Sikander Alam Foundation to reward noted artistes on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the late playback singer.
Odia singer Pranab Kishore Patnaik was the recipient of the first Sikander Alam Memorial award in 2018.
