Angul: A sister-brother duo were shot at by unknown miscreants while sleeping on the verandah of their house at Bhangamunda village in Odisha’s Angul district in the early hours of Friday.
They have been identified as Jagyaseni Mirdha (15) and Prakash Mirdha (11), children of Prafulla Mirdha.
Sources said that the duo was initially admitted to Kishorenagar community health centre. Jagyaseni, who was hit in the abdomen, was later rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as her condition deteriorated. Prakash is undergoing treatment at Burla Hospital in Sambalpur district and his condition is stated to be stable.
Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators and ascertain the motive behind firing on the two minor children.
