Sambalpur: The Hirakud dam authorities closed six gates of the reservoir following less inflow of Mahanadi water on Saturday.
The dam recorded a water level of 625.27 feet (optimum level 630 feet) at 9 am. The inflow was 1,71,453 cusecs and outflow was 1,58,748 cusecs.
The dam authorities had opened 12 gates on Friday. On Saturday, three gates were closed at 6 am and three more at 9 am.
