Cuttack: Six members of a fake job recruitment gang, including a woman, were arrested by the Commissionerate police on Sunday for allegedly duping aspirants of around Rs 53 lakh on the pretext of providing jobs in Odisha’s Cuttack city.
The main accused has been identified as Sanjay Kumar Nayak. He duped job aspirants by posing as an OPTCL officer, according to police sources.
Acting on several complaints lodged by the duped aspirants, Darghabazar police swung into action and arrested the fake recruiters’ gang members. Gold worth Rs 50 lakh, fake appointment letters, six mobile phones, one car and four motorcycles were seized from their possession. “They cheated many youths in various districts of the state and efforts are on to nab two more members of the gang who are on the run,” Additional DCP Anil Mishra informed.
