Bhubaneswar: Six people were arrested, including a woman, for allegedly trying to sell over 1.5 litres of snake venom worth over Rs 1.3 crore here on Saturday.
Snake Helpline’s Suvendu Mallick, who received the information that few persons were looking for customers to sell snake venom, alerted the Bhubaneswar forest range office.
Assistant Conservator of Forest, Prashant Kumar Panda then formed four teams, who posed as customers in civilian dress to nab the culprits.
The six arrested ones have been identified as Hrushnakar Padhiary (30), Biswa Pradhan (30), Suraj Das (21), Sanjay Mohanty (43), Shyamalendu Nayak (30) and Jayasmita Nayak. All are from various districts of Odisha.
