Pune: At least six people were killed, several injured and many more feared trapped after a portion of an under-construction building collapsed in Yerawada in Pune late Thursday night.
The incident took place around 11 pm on Thursday when a slab of the under-construction mall collapsed on labourers in Shastrinagar area.
The death toll is expected to rise, the police said.
Six persons have so far been found dead and their bodies were taken to the Sassoon Hospital here, the police added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his condolences for the bereaved families. “Pained by the mishap at an under-construction building in Pune. Condolences to the bereaved families. I hope that all those injured in this mishap recover at the earliest,” he tweeted.
