Lightning strikes claim six more lives in state

Bhubaneswar: Six more persons were killed in lightning strikes on Wednesday, taking the death toll to 40 in the last four day.
Two such incidents were reported from Balasore and one each from Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam and Keonjhar districts. Most of them were struck by lighting while working in fields.
According to reports, two farmers were killed at Talapada in Kendrapada and Handiagaon village in Jagatsinghpur, while another lost his life while tilling his paddy field at Odasala in Balasore.
Two women died in lightning strikes at Badasankha in Ganjam and Kasimpur village in Balsore.
In Keonjhar, a minor boy died on the spot after being struck by lightning at Jadipada.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning at one or two places in North Odisha in the next 48 hours.
