Bhubaneswar: Corona positive cases in Odisha touched 834 with six more persons testing positive for the virus late on Sunday. While four cases were reported from Puri, two were detected in Balangir.
Puri Collector Balwant Singh informed the media that two COVID-19 cases were reported from Puri town and one each from Pipili and Konark locality. Of these four cases, three were in quarantine centres and another, an under-trial prisoner arrested from Kumbharpada area on May 15 and in jail
Following this, the IIC and 30 other staff of Kumbharpada police station have sent to a government quarantine centre. “Swabs of all personnel will be sent for tests tomorrow,” Puri SP said.
Puri has so far reported 29 corona cases.
Speaking to media, Balangir collector Arindam Dakua said that the two new virus-afflicted persons are Surat returnees. With this, the total number of COVID cases in the district has gone up to to six.
Of the 834 cases in the state, 604 are active while 220 patients have been cured. The virus has so far claimed four lives.

While Ganjam leads with 292 positive cases, Jajpur is second with 121 followed by Balasore (119), Khurda (59), Bhadrak (74), Kendrapara (27), Sundargarh (27), Puri (29), Angul (15), Mayurbhanj (11), Cuttack (22), Nayagarh (6), Jagatsinghpur (5), Boudh (4), Keonjhar (8), Balangir (6), Deogarh (2), Jharsuguda (2), Kalahandi (2), Dhenkanal (1), Sambalpur (1) and Koraput (1).
