Bhubaneswar: Promising defender and hockey star Dipsan Tirkey of Odisha will lead the 18-member India U-23 men’s hockey team for a six-nation tournament in Belgium beginning July 14.
Apart from Dipsan, two more Odia hockey players, Nilam Sanjeep Xess (defender) and Shilanand Lakra (forward), have made it to the national team, which was announced on Monday.
The Indian team will meet Ireland in the opening match on July 14.
Apart from India and hosts Belgium, Great Britain, Ireland, Malaysia and the Netherlands will be playing the tournament, which will conclude on July 21.
