Balugaon: A country boat capsized in Chilika Lake near Balugaon in Odisha’s Khurda district on Sunday afternoon, leaving six passengers critical.
According to reports, a group of persons had gone to Kalijai Temple in the lake for a picnic in the morning. On return, the boatman lost control of the boat in the middle of the lake. As a result, it overturned and capsized.
Fortunately, some local fishermen fishing in the nearby area rushed to the spot after hearing the screams of the passengers and rescued all of them.
Following information, the local administration and a team of Fire Services personnel rushed to the lake area and admitted the passengers to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Balugan where the condition of six passengers is stated to be critical. The hospital authorities later shifted one passenger to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar after his condition deteriorated.
