Keonjhar: Forest officials foiled a poaching bid with the arrest of six
poachers in Keonjhar district late on Saturday.
Two among those arrested were identified as sharpshooters from Andhra Pradesh.
Tipped-off about the poachers’ presence in a forest area near
Nalapanga village under Sadar range in the district, the forest
officials conducted a raid and nabbed them while laying the trap with
nylon ropes to hunt elephants.
The arrested persons were booked under various sections of Wildlife
Protection Act, 1972.
