Niali: Panic gripped residents of Niali block in Cuttack district as six more sheep were found dead at Kandhia village under Pokharigaon panchayat on Sunday.
The matter came to the fore after Bhagwan Das found the carcasses in his cattle shed this morning.
A team of experts from the Wildlife Institute of India, who recently took stock of the situation and conducted a field study in the affected villages of Niali, suspected wolves, jackals or foxes behind the sheep killing incidents in the area.
However, a case of unusual goat deaths was also reported from Old Berhampur in Ganjam district on Saturday. Four goats were found dead under mysterious circumstances in the area and the attack on the livestock was similar to that in Niali.
