Puri: Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Wednesday restricted use of smartphones by servitors inside Jagannath Temple here.
A decision in this regard was taken at a crucial meeting of Chhatisa Nijoga chaired by SJTA chief administrator Pradip Jena.
“The temple servitors and staff will use non-camera phones inside the shrine. They will be provided feature phones with specific logos approved by the temple administration put on them. Besides, closed user groups (CUG) system will also be introduced for the servitors and we will discuss with mobile operators regarding this soon,” Jena informed.
The move came after a selfie by a woman from West Bengal and a youth inside the temple premises went viral recently.
The meeting attended by the representatives of different Nijogas also stressed timely and smooth conduct of rituals during Kartika month.
