Bhubaneswar: Following the seizure of a skeleton from a vehicle on Janla police outpost premises under Jatni police limits, the Commissinerate Police suspended the outpost-in-charge, Satyabrata Grahacharya, for alleged dereliction in duty,
DCP Umashankar Dash on Saturday informed that the skeleton was found inside a vehicle seized by Berhampur police in 2019 in connection with a ganja smuggling case.
“The skeleton was found when Berhampur police came to release the vehicle in February this year. A scientific team was called for examination and the skeleton was then sent to the AIIMS Bhubaneswar for postmortem,” the DCP said.
The scientific examination revealed that the skeleton was that of a female and she had died of Tuberculosis (TB).
“ The AIIMS in its report said that a person aged about 45 years suffering from Tuberculosis probably got stuck inside the vehicle and died naturally. We are trying to ascertain the identity of the deceased,” Dash said.
Disciplinary action was taken against Grahacharya as he was unaware of the incident, which occurred on the outpost premises, he added.
