Bhubaneswar: In a new development in the recovery of skeleton from a vehicle at Janla police outpost premises under Jatni police limits, Commissionerate Police has sent samples to a Hyderabad-based laboratory for DNA profiling.
Informing this Commissioner of Police Soumendra Priyadarshi said investigation into the case is being conducted as it should be. A woman police officer of Mahila police station has been entrusted with the probe into the case.
The CP further said the woman is believed to be aged around 45. However, her identity is yet to be established, he said and added that efforts have also been initiated in this direction.
From the post mortem report conducted at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, it is found that the deceased was suffering from tuberculosis and had died of natural causes, stated a report of the scientific team which examined the skeleton.
On Saturday, Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash informed that the skeleton was found inside a vehicle seized by Berhampur police in 2019 in connection with a ganja smuggling case and was kept at Janla outpost.
The skeleton was found when Berhampur police came to release the vehicle on February 12 this year.
Though the vehicle was at the outpost its in-charge Satyabrata Grahacharya was unaware of the skeleton, he was suspended for alleged dereliction in duty.
