Paradip: A skill centre set up on the premises of the Paradeep Pellet Plant of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) to hone the skills of the newl entrants was inaugurated on Thursday.
Director and Vice President (Operations), AM/NS India, Wim Van Gerven unveiled the skill centre in the presence of Suresha G, ED, Odisha Operations and other senior officials of the company.
The skill centre is well equipped with safety gears, fire-fighting equipment, various lubrications, equipment models, internal components of various electrical and instrumentation equipment and cut models to visualise the internal working principles.
A press release of the company said that the centre, which was set up under the supervision of Business Excellence of AM/NS India’s Odisha Operations, will hone the skill of the new joiners and give them opportunities to learn the basics of operation system.
In the Skill Centre, the experts will interact with degree engineer trainees and diploma trainees, apart from imparting classroom, model-based and stimulation training to make them ‘Safety Focused Equipment & Process Competent’, it said.
Speaking on the occasion, Suresha G said that the company will establish sophisticated PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) Kit in the days to come to develop in-house logic developer.
“This will certainly help enrich the skill level of each employee who are directly involved in pellet plant operation,” he exuded hope.
