Slain Odisha Minister Naba Das’ Daughter Urges All Not To Politicise Father’s Murder

Bhubaneswar: Amid the raging controversy over the murder of Odisha Minister Naba Kishore Das, his daughter Deepali on Tuesday urged all to refrain from politicising the issue and said her family has full faith on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Stating that her family is disturbed and shocked after the killing, Deepali Das told reporters that no one had thought that something like this will happen. “My family is disturbed. I appeal to everyone with folded hands on behalf of our family not politicise the issue as it is a very sensitive case,” she said.

Regarding the progress in the probe into her father’s killing, she said the Crime Branch of Odisha Police is investigating the case under the supervision of an able judge.

It will not be proper to comment as the investigation is yet to be completed. But, we have faith in CM Naveen Patnaik and are hopeful of getting justice.”

Expressing gratitude to the people of the state for supporting her family, Deepali said, “After my father’s death, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also stood by my family like a father. He has his blessings on us.”

She said she is also obliged for the sympathy of the people of Jharsuguda, BJD leaders and other political parties.

Asked whether she will enter politics, Deepali declined to comment saying she will not like to speak about this at this juncture. “I cannot comment on this right now. But, we will respect whatever decision the CM (Naveen) takes,” she added.

Deepali’s statement came in the midst of a raging slugfest between opposition parties and ruling BJD over the murder of  Naba Das by a policeman on January 29.

Both BJP and Congress have been demanding a CBI probe into the sensational murder alleging that there was a deep-rooted conspiracy behind the mysterious killing.
