Titlagarh: Panic prevailed among students and staff of DAV College in Titlagarh of Balangir district after a sloth bear strayed into the college campus on Tuesday.
On being informed, forest officials rushed to the spot and launched an operation to trap the animal.
According to sources, the animal was spotted roaming inside the old hostel of the educational institution. Although no one stays in the hostel, panic spread among the families of the employees of the institution as the old hostel is adjacent to the staff quarters.
“The bear is suspected to have come from a nearby forest in search of food. In a bid to protect itself, it has hidden itself inside the hostel building. Efforts are on to chase it away”, a forest official informed.
