Bhubaneswar: Palasuni area in Bhubaneswar turned into a battle ground with sword-wielding youth attacking slum dwellers on Friday night.
According to reports, a clash broke out between Mundasahi and ‘Canal Bandha’ Puruna basti over a trivial fight that had occurred on Thursday.
At least six persons, including a minor and a woman, were injured in the clash. They were rushed to Capital Hospital where two critically injured are undergoing treatment. Four others have been discharged after treatment.
A resident said, “Around 100 youth wielding weapons like daggers and swords gathered on the main road and before the we could realise what was happening, they started attacking us. The assailants did not spare anyone.”
A video of the incident captured by CCTVs shows the youth attacking anyone and everyone coming their way with daggers and rods.
The agitators have blocked the highway near Palasuni demanding immediate arrest of miscreants involved in clash.
Mancheswar police reached the spot and was trying to bring the situation under control till the reports last came in.
