Angul: Two labourers allegedly died of asphyxiation while another was rescued in a critical condition from a brick kiln at Manapur village under Kantabania police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Friday.
The deceased belonged to Pallahara area in Angul district.
According to sources, three labourers left a diesel generator running inside their sack before going to sleep last night. Two among them were found dead this morning. It is being suspected that they suffocated to death in their sleep after smoke from the generator engulfed the sack.
The other labourer was initially rushed to district headquarters hospital here and later shifted to SCB hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.
While police have launched a probe into incident, the owner of the brick kiln refused to comment on the matter.
