Rourkela: Panic gripped the passengers of Howrah-bound Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express from Mumbai on Monday morning when they found smoke emitting from one of the coaches, between Lotapahad and Chakradharpur section under South Eastern Railway jurisdiction.
Some reports even suggested that passengers jumped off from the running train.
However, South Eastern Railway spokesperson Sanjay Ghosh dismissed such reports and said “nothing abnormal” was reported to them except an incident of alarm chain pulling.
“The train is approaching Tatanagar station now. The alarm chain pulling coupled with the heat outside might have led to some smoke. But all passengers are safe and the train is on its way to Howrah,” he told Odisha Bytes.
