Mumbai: After reports suggested that a new series is being developed as a spin-off of ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, Smriti Irani, who plays Tulsi Virani, dismissed the claims, stating that she is not involved in any television project apart from the show.
Replying to one of the posts hinting at the spinoff, Smriti wrote, “May want to check PR content with authorities that have IP rights. I am not associated with any other show except Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.”
She added, “No spin-off pr
ogram is authorised for my engagement legally… Do check so that viewers are not misinformed.”
Some reports said that Star Plus is planning to launch a show titled ‘Kyunki Rishton Ke Bhi Roop Badalte Hain’, likely linked to the original series. The show was apparently to be centred around Vrinda and Angad, played by Tanisha Mehta and Rohit Suchanti, and delve deeper into their journey.
‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, originally aired from 2000 to 2008, became one of Indian television’s most iconic shows, with Smriti’s Tulsi emerging as a defining character.
Last year, the show returned with a reboot, featuring several original cast members along with new faces.
Unlike the original show, the reboot is a limited series of 150 episodes, airing on Star Plus and streaming on JioHotstar.
