Bhubaneswar: Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Zubin Irani will chair the Zonal Conference of five States of Eastern Region in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar will participate in the meeting, a PIB release said.
This is the fifth and last in the series of Zonal Consultations with state governments and stakeholders in each region of the country to ensure the optimum impact of recently-launched Mission Poshan 2.0, Mission Shakti and Mission Vatsalya and proper implementation of these schemes over the next five years.
The first such meeting was held in Chandigarh on April 2, second in Bengaluru on April 4, third in Guwahati on April 10 and fourth in Mumbai on April 12 in which Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu participated.
Notably, the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently approved 3 important Umbrella Schemes of the Ministry for empowerment and protection of women and children, who constitute 67.7 per cent of India’s population and ensuring their wholesome development in a safe and secure environment, which is crucial for the sustainable and equitable development of the country and for achieving transformational economic and social changes.
