Sangli (Maharashtra): The much-awaited wedding ceremony of Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal, scheduled for Sunday, had to be put back after the bride’s father suffered a heart attack.
According to Smriti’s business manager Tuhin Mishra, her father Srinivas Mandhana, suffered a heart attack while preparations for the wedding were underway at the Mandhana Farm House in Samdol, Sangli.
He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Sangli, where he is currently admitted for urgent treatment. Smriti and other family members also rushed to the hospital. The family has said that her father’s condition is stable and he is now under observation. This offered a small measu
re of relief during difficult times, the family said.
The wedding management officially informed the media that the day’s ceremony has been called off. It is not yet known when the wedding festivities will resume.
“The planned marriage between Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal has been postponed indefinitely, and work to remove the decorations at the Samdol wedding venue is currently underway. The couple and their families have requested privacy as they focus on the health and recovery of Srinivas Mandhana,” the media was informed.
Smriti and Muchhal – a Bollywood singer and music composer – were expected to tie the nuptial knot on November 23 in the presence of close family members and fans in Sangli. Several members of the Indian Women’s Cricket World Cup-winning team were with Smriti during the wedding celebrations.
Smriti is the first member of the team to get married and over the last few days, several videos and photographs of the couple’s Bollywood-like pre-wedding festivities were shared on social media.
Fans will now need to wait a little more before their marriage becomes official.
