New Delhi: Amid the ongoing Samosa controversy in Himachal Pradesh, Leader of Opposition in the state and former Chief Minister, Jairam Thakur, hosted a samosa party for BJP leaders and workers in Mandi on Friday. This comes after the Congress-led state government in Himachal Pradesh regarding a CID investigation into the distribution of samosas and cakes meant for Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. According to reports, the refreshments were mistakenly served to his security staff.
A video shared by the BJP Himachal Pradesh unit on X showed Thakur sitting with leaders and workers of the party and enjoying the snack.
“Bahot swadisht hai bhai (It’s very delicious),” Thakur is heard saying in the video.
The party had also featured jalebi. This Indian sweet, jalebi, also became a talking point after the Haryana Assembly Election results were out and BJP emerging as victorious.
The BJP had mocked Rahul Gandhi over his jalebi comment during the campaign. The party also sent 1kg of jalebis from Bikanervala in Delhi’s Connaught Place to the Gandhi’s residence.
Earlier, CM Sukhu clarified that the probe was not ordered into the ‘missing samosas’, but for “misbehavior” of officials.
The BJP had launched a scathing attack. “How did a samosa become an anti-government act?… The opposition people did not eat the samosa,” Thakur had said.
