Bhubaneswar: A journalist, Satya Sundar Bhanja, sustained grievous injuries when he resisted a snatching bid while taking a morning walk at Unit-8 Delta Square in Odisha capital on Friday.
The injured journalist, who works for Odia daily ‘Samay’, was admitted to Capital Hospital in a critical condition by locals.
According to sources, two bike-born miscreants allegedly tried to snatch his phone and brutally assaulted him when he resisted the loot bid. He was hit in the head with an iron rod. The incident took place around 5 am.
Bhanja’s younger brother told the media that he had been staying with him in Bhubaneswar for a while now. “He was brutally attacked by some miscreants this morning. Timely treatment saved his life. His condition is stable now and he is able to talk,” he added.
Bhanja hails from Balangir district.
