Bhubaneswar: ‘Criativo’, a multi-disciplinary socio-cultural club was launched at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS), Faculty of Agriculture, SOA Deemed to be University, in the college campus on Wednesday.
It was inaugurated by Saswati Das, vice-president of SOA. She said the club would provide an opportunity to students to give expression to their talent in areas like dance, drama, music, fine arts, literary and debating skills and photography.
Another programme, ‘Asha’ was also launched at the university. It will enable students and faculty of the institution to reach out to the farming community in nearby villages and provide them technical support and work for their social welfare, Dean of IAS, Prof. Bijay Kumar Sahoo said.
He said that ‘Jaago’, SOA’s social action arm, had also started functioning in the IAS campus. Through it, students help slum children in their education. Study material was provided to more than 50 children in the nearby slums on the occasion.
SOA Vice-Chancellor, Prof Amit Banerjee, Dean (PG Studies), Prof Premananda Mohapatra, Dean (Students’ Welfare), Dr Jyoti Ranjan Das, and mentor, ‘Jaago’, Dr Anita Panda were present.
