Bhubaneswar: The Voice of SOA Community 90.4, community
radio station of the SOA Deemed to be University, has won an award for the best
jingle in the Measles Rubella campaign in the third edition of the UNICEF-AROI
Radio4Child Awards, which were presented at Mumbai on Friday.
RJs Gaur and KP from Voice of SOA Community 90.4 received the award
from UNICEF celebrity advocate and Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Khan.
The awards were a culmination of capacity building workshops conducted
in 2018 by UNICEF and Association of Radio Operators for India (AROI) for over 40
All India Radio and private FM Radio professionals to help them integrate
meaningful and appealing radio jingles or talk shows on the critical messages
related to vaccination and other child issues.
The winners were picked by a select jury, which included personalities from
academia, the radio industry and the corporate sector.
UNICEF, which has been looking at Radio4Child as a platform to raise children’s
issues, had received 152 entries from 17 states.
While congratulating RJ Gaur and RJ KP for winning the award, SOA
president, Prof. Manojranjan Nayak expressed the hope that the SOA community radio station would win greater laurels in the future.
