Bhubaneswar: Students from the Post-Graduate Department of Surgery of the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, Faculty of Medicine of SOA (Deemed to be University) here, have walked away with most prizes at the Odisha State Surgeons’ Conference (OSASICON), which was held at Balasore recently.
Dr Suman Saurav Rout and Dr Kasturi Bharadwaj emerged joint winners in the Urology Trust best paper award while Dr Sonali Mohanty won the first prize in Post-Graduate poster competition.
Dr A Naidu and Dr K Ujwal won the third prize in the Post-Graduate Paper presentation and Post-Graduate Master Class competitions respectively. Dr J Tejaswini, an intern with IMS, also received the gold medal from Prof Arvind Kumar, president of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), for securing the highest marks in surgery in the final MBBS examination.
The conference was held at the North Odisha Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Meanwhile, Dr Sibani Sarangi, an intern from the Institute of Dental Sciences, SOA’s Faculty of Dental Sciences, won the prize for best paper presentation at the 72nd Indian Dental Conference held at Indore recently. Her paper was titled ‘Treatment Strategies for Oral Ulcers’.
