Social Worker Critical In Sword Attack By Bike-Borne Miscreants In Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: A young man, stated to be a social worker, was critically injured after being attacked by three bike-borne miscreants in Pallaspalli area of Bhubaneswar.

The youth, identified as Shibaprasad Srichandan, was returning home from work on a scooter on Monday night when he was attacked by the miscreants.

Sources said the miscreants chased him around before launching a brutal attack with swords. The attackers fled the scene, leaving the social worker critically injured.

Shibaprasad was initially rushed to the Capital Hospital here for treatment and later shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar as his condition deteriorated. Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh reportedly visited AIIMS to enquire about the condition of the social worker.

Police have started an investigation into the incident while efforts were on by the cops to trace and apprehend the attackers.

The motive behind the attack was yet to be ascertained.
